1. General Provisions
The Lessor rents to the Lessee a vehicle (hereinafter – Car) specified in the Rental Agreement, together with all related equipment and accessories. By signing the Agreement and these Terms, the Lessee confirms that they hold a valid driver’s license and have read and understood all the terms and conditions.
2. Reservation and Payment
Reservations can be changed no later than 48 hours before the rental start, subject to vehicle availability. A reservation can be cancelled no later than 48 hours before the rental start; in this case a 40% cancellation fee is deducted. If cancelled later than 48 hours, no refund is issued. In case of no-show, all payments are retained in full.
2.1. Payments may be made using payment cards (Visa, Mastercard or other supported cards), Apple Pay, Google Pay, or via online banking services available on the website.
2.2. Upon successful processing of the payment, the Lessee shall receive an electronic confirmation sent to the email address provided by the Lessee, confirming the conclusion of the contract.
2.3. If the payment is unsuccessful, the reservation shall not be confirmed.
3. Security Deposit
Upon receiving the Car, a security deposit is reserved on the Lessee’s bank card. The deposit amount depends on the vehicle category. The deposit is released within 10 days after the Car is returned, provided no violations or damages are found.
4. Driver Age and Requirements
Minimum driver age – 21 years with at least 2 years of driving experience. LUX class cars are available from 25 years of age with at least 5 years of experience.
5. Car Pickup and Return
Cars can be picked up at Katrīnas dambis 29 on working days from 9:00 to 18:00 and on weekends by request. Pickup or return outside working hours – an additional 20 EUR. Delivery within Riga during working hours – 30 EUR; outside working hours – up to 50 EUR.
6. Fuel and Charging Policy
The Car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup. Missing fuel is charged at 4.00 EUR/l. Electric vehicles must be returned with at least 80% charge. For missing charge – 1.00 EUR/kWh; if the level is below 20% – a penalty of 100 EUR.
7. Driving Outside Latvia
Written permission from the Lessor is required to drive outside Latvia. An additional fee of 5 EUR per day applies. The Car may only be used within the European Union.
8. Insurance (OCTA / KASKO)
The Car is insured according to OCTA regulations. The Lessee may purchase KASKO insurance with 0 EUR deductible. If the insurer refuses to pay compensation, the Lessee must fully reimburse the Lessor for all losses. KASKO does not apply if traffic rules are violated, the Car is driven by an unauthorized person, or illegal actions are performed.
9. Lessee’s Obligations and Liability
The Lessee is fully liable for the Car and any damages caused during its use. The Lessee agrees to comply with traffic rules, follow operating requirements, and pay all fines and charges promptly.
10. Prohibited Actions
The Lessee is prohibited from transferring the Car to third parties, smoking inside, participating in races, making modifications, using the Car for illegal activities, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
11. Damages, Accidents and Fines
In case of any damage, the Lessor must be immediately informed by phone +371 20660000 and the police must be called. The Lessor may withhold amounts from the deposit for damages, fine administration, or other charges specified in the Agreement.
12. Cancellations and Changes
The Lessee may cancel or change the reservation up to 48 hours before the rental start. A 40% cancellation fee applies. If the Car is not picked up at the scheduled time, no refund is issued.
12.1. If the Lessee wishes to exercise the right of withdrawal (where the reservation was made дистанционно), the notice of withdrawal must be sent to: info@ambercar.lv.
12.2. The notice of withdrawal must include the Lessee’s first name, last name, reservation number, and contact details.
12.3. The Lessor shall reimburse all payments received from the Lessee without undue delay and, in any event, not later than fourteen (14) days from the date on which the Lessor is informed of the Lessee’s decision to withdraw from the contract.
12.4. The reimbursement shall be made using the same means of payment as the Lessee used for the initial transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise. The Lessee shall not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
12.5. If the payment was made by payment card, the refund shall be credited to the same card used for the original transaction.
13. Data Processing and Dispute Resolution
The Lessee’s personal data are processed according to the Lessor’s Privacy Policy. Disputes shall be resolved amicably where possible, otherwise in the courts of the Republic of Latvia in accordance with applicable law.
13.1. The Lessee has the right to contact the Consumer Rights Protection Centre of Latvia.
14. Final Provisions
These Terms are an integral part of the Agreement and are binding on both parties. If any clause is invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force. The Agreement may be amended only in writing by mutual consent.
